Science and beauty have always been important pillars of L’Oréal, and the Group is keen on promoting acknowledgement of women scientists with great achievements in their fields. The most iconic example would be the For Women in Science Awards L’Oréal co-founded with UNESCO in 1998. Earlier in the awards ceremony of the 14th “China Young Women in Science Fellowships”, 10 brilliant women scientists were recognized for their profound science achievements. To channel new blood into the cause for science, 4 young and talented Ph.D.s and postdoctoral scholars were selected for the 2017 “Rising Talents” program. We have a first-ever winner from Hong Kong among the awardees, Assistant Prof. Kim Chow Hei-Man from HKUST (2nd from the left in photo) was awarded for her insightful research of the Alzheimer disease! The research of Prof. Chow could speed up the search of medications that prevent Alzheimer decease.
